Welcome to the Renewable Energy Meteorology REM Research Group

About Us
The Renewable Energy Meteorology Group UNSW, is a team of researchers specializing in renewable energy meteorology. Our focus is on all aspects of renewable energy, from siting to operation to future impacts and the future energy network. Our goal is to provide reliable and innovative research solutions to help shape the future of renewable energy.
Our Research Interests
We are passionate about tackling the world's energy challenges through climate and meteorology research. Our team is dedicated to studying the impact of renewable energy on the environment and society. We conduct research on various topics, including the optimization of wind and solar farms, the effects of climate change on renewable energy production, the impact of extreme weather and the integration of renewable energy into the energy grid. Our research aims to provide insights and solutions to help accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future.

Research Areas
1
Wind Energy Potential
We are involved in resource assessments, site selection and understanding climate change impacts on the generation costs for both onshore and offshore wind.
2
Solar PV resource assessment
We are interested in understanding solar resource potential, variability, intermittency and techno-economic assessments in the present and future climate.
3
Hybridisation of renewable plants
We are interested in understanding solar-wind hybrid plants; solar-wind-battery plants.
4
Extremes
Impacts of extremes - bushfires, storms, extreme winds,
hail etc., on RE and energy infrastructure
